Inventory number VOR-2; Painted wood, 9x160x30cm, 21a Dynasty, middle or late:
This excellent, well preserved mummy cover from Bab el-Gasus was a part of the famous "Lot 6"
presented by the Khedive to Tsar Alexander III in 1893.  As far as possible the darkening of both
the Ancient Egyptian and modern varnish has been removed to restore the typical yellow
background of Theban 21a Dynasty coffins.
