Cartouche of A-kheper-ka-re
Tuthmosis I, 1504-1492 BCE;
first king of the Tuthmoside
Dynasty
From the badly written and damaged inscription
we read the lower line from right to left pr nbw,
"house of gold". The two houses of silver and of
gold of Tuthmosis I, built by the architect Ineni,
are well documented.
Aside from the cartouche, A-xpr-kA-r', fairly
clear is only jb-njswt "heart of the king" in the
column to the left.
A circle was incised on the bottom of the piece,
probably to center the rough block for cutting
to size. From this can be determined the extent
of the missing front section.
